Good morning! It has been a few days. To be honest, I had a bit of a health scare……….but no worries, things are good and getting better. I know the master Healer and am being took care of by not only medical professionals but an entire host of people who love and care for me. It has been a reminder to me that self care is NOT selfish…….it is NEEDED. In fact, it is vital for your health and survival…….so please….take care of YOU. If you are like me, you go and go and go and make sure those around you are taken care of……..but if you are not taking care of you……then you eventually run out of you to give and then that’s when things turn scary……..so its ok to every once in awhile to stop, get away, breath, do something for you…..IT…..IS…..OK.
Now that we have that out of the way, haha…..let’s talk about some other thoughts. In the spirit of taking care of ourselves, we must also learn to every day DIE to self so that Christ might shine through us, care for us, fight our battles for us, and meet our needs. Yes, the biggest self care is to die to self……let me say that again, we must DIE TO SELF to really live the life we were created for. My devotion today said this; “The life God is calling you to live is NOT your life, it is HIS life through you. Put yourself upon the altar once again and die to self.” That really hit me. My life is not mine, my dreams, my wants, my desires….they are His through me. And to truly live, and even achieve these dreams, I have to daily put myself on the altar at His feet, and allow Him to live in me and direct me and be my guiding light. We do this through faith…….the one thing God asks of us……faith in Him. In the old testament Joshua was directed to go into battle…….but there was a wall….a BIG wall…..one that others failed to penetrate. God intersected Joshua to just have faith and march…..others thought him crazy, but march he did until God told him different. And when the time was right God instructed Joshua to instruct his men to all at once blow their trumpets….and what happened……..the walls came down and victory was had. Why? Because Joshua laid down what human nature told him……human nature told him this was impossible……but Joshua had faith to know that the impossible is very possible with God, so he put his faith in God and the battle was won.
What is God asking you to lay down, what is He asking you to have faith in Him over? If you are like me you struggle in this. Because the not knowing…….thats scary… and handing everything over in faith not knowing what’s going to happen…….thats big….but that’s what He wants……and guess what…..doing it is the most rewarding and the most self care act that we could ever do. Have faith and trust in God…….again……it really is THAT simple.
So today…….choose love……choose love for yourself, and by doing that you Love God and love as He does…….and He loves us more than anyone or anything………and since we are instructed to love as He does…..make sure you are showing yourself love. ❤️
