Quiet Thoughts with Sara

This past Sunday after church, we were all preparing to leave, and I walked over to my grandmother to give her a hug. She looked at me and pointed to my daddy…who happens to be the pastor of our church….and says, “I gave birth to that” with the biggest grin on her face. She then when on to talk about how much she enjoyed the entire service and how “simple” it all was. I just kind of looked at her, then smiled, and said yea Mowmow…it is simple.

I thought about that most of the afternoon. It IS simple. God made His word and His message to be simple so that EVERYONE could understand. During the Time of Jesus and the apostles…when the Bible was being wrote….it was made to be simple so that even the gentiles (those not Jewish) could know and understand and come to faith. We as a people tend to over complicate things…and His word and message was never meant to be complicated, but simple. He wants us to understand what His word says, that way we can know Him even more. He desires that relationship, so He isn’t going to leave His guidebook to be some hard puzzle we have to have a PHD to decipher…it really IS that simple.

To go further on this thought….STOP LIVING IN THE PAST AND IN REGRETS! We miss so many blessings when we look back instead of forward. I heard a song this morning for the first time and it stopped me in my tracks…literally because I was walking around getting ready for work haha. The name of the song is You Are More, by Tenth Avenue North..I’m really liking their songs. But part of the song says:

”With tear stains on her eyes, from the places she’s wondered, ad the shame she can’t hide, She says, “How did I get here? Im not who I once was and I’m crippled by the fear that I’ve fallen too far to love.”

Stop right there….wow…how often have I myself felt this to my core! Im not worthy, Im not worth it…..no one could want me or love me. THAT IS SATAN. Ok….now more of this song, just hang with me…better yet…go listen!

Here is the good part! “ But don’t you know who you are? What has been done for you? Yeah, don’t you know who you are? You are MORE than the choices you’ve made, you are MORE than the sum of your past mistakes, you are MORE than the problems you create. You’ve been remade!”

WOW….again…it’s THAT SIMPLE….we have been forgiven, we have been redeemed, we have been REMADE! We are more than our choices and our past….and we are enough. Don’t let your past choices stop you from a relationship with Christ, He WANTS us…He does not need us (of coarse another song by this group) but He WANTS us. It’s that SIMPLE. God doesn’t want coming to Him to be complicated…that’s why His son Jesus paid the price for our relationship with God….and oh how good it is!
