So when the kids and I moved to Louisiana, one thing that needed secured was a job for me. After a little over a month of searching, putting in applications, taking interviews, not being offered jobs..or being offered jobs that just wasn’t a right fit…I got a call from a bank. Now I have never worked for a bank so putting my application in at one was just really done on a whim. I went in and spoke with the bank manager, we got along great..interview went well. It’s a community bank, not corporate..so he understood me being a single mom and that sometimes things would come up with the kids and school that I would need to care for. Next step…my application was sent to the CEO and owner of the bank…and if he so choose…I would have a direct interview with him….I got that interview. I sat down with the man, and though he asked some job experience, he mainly wanted to know me as a person. We talked my family history, talked about my kids, even if i attended church or not. I left feeling like i had just become a part of his family. And in hindsight…by becoming his employee I did.
So I work for two locations of this bank. The first half of my day is spent at a drive thru only branch in a little neighboring community not far from where I live. It being drive thru only..I actually work here alone. I have grown to love it. My customers in this town….though sometimes a little eccentric..are good hard working and loving people. I mean when you get hot fresh homemade biscuits or still wam chocolate chip cookies sent though the drive box to you… you know you are loved and have some great customers!
Fridays are generally pretty busy…but today not so much…so i have had some downtime to read my devotion and get in the Bible and pray. Today my devotion had me in Colossians 1….which is funny because the book of Colossians is what we are going through in our Sunday school class at church…funny how God brings things full circle. Anyways…something that really hit and touched me in todays devotional…that i have never stopped to even consider…Jesus..God the Son…created Mary…His mother. At birth…as a newborn infant baby…he was already older than His mother because He had always been and would forever be! Colossians 1:16 says “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities – all things have been created through Him and for Him.”
Centuries before Christ was born, God had already arranged for Mary to have a virgin birth and become the mother of the Savior our God. Imagine then, how He already holds ours story…its wrote…He knows all and is working all for his glory. He holds us through our trials and draws us near because He loves us. And even though at times we don’t understand the why…if we trust Him and allow the story He has written to play out…we will see and understand far greater things than we could have imagined. The God that created the world, the God that created Mary simply to give birth to His Son our Savior, the God that allowed His INNOCENT son to be punished for OUR sins….is the God that loves us and desires a relationship with us….though we are fr from worthy…its what He desires and that my friends…that is awe inspiring and humbling. Y’all have a great Friday and weekend! Be sure as smile!
