Quiet moments in a Quiet Time

This morning my devotion was about why Christian’s fail in this Christian life….and it simply came down to the fact that we fail to start our day with a quiet time with God. I have found that on days where I blast some worship music and pray and talk and sing to God as I get ready for my day….that my day is so so good. And it may not mean that everything goes right, but my attitude and outlook are right to face it head on because I met with God first! We ask, why are things not going right, why does it seem like everything bad happens at once? Well…and I am the first to say I fail at this…but have we slowed down, hit our knees and bowed our head to the one in control of it all? Have we called out and then quieted our minds to listen? The Bible tells us He will at times speak in a still small voice…but we have to be quiet ourselves and be listening to hear it.

I fail so often at keeping a quiet time, but that is something God has been working on me about and leading me back to. Meeting with Him before the day gets crazy and hectic is proving to be the only way to live! I used to say, it doesn’t matter what time a day I do a quiet time…and that’s true…but how often do we say I will do it tonight, and before we know it the craziness of the day has took over and we are in bed going to sleep and have not stopped once to get in His word and meet with HIm. Then, if you are like me, you say a quick prayer promising that tomorrow you will make time…..but seriously, tomorrow never comes does it?

This morning I read out of Ephesians 5. Paul encourages us to be imitators of Christ, to walk in love just as He loved us. I don’t know about you, but my life does not always imitate Christ…and that’s a humbling thought. Paul further tells us not to be deceived by others and their empty words. How do we guard against this….but by getting in His word daily and meeting with Him. So let me encourage you to make this a priority…as I am making it a priority in my life. If you need a buddy, reach out….we can encourage and push each other on! I pray you have an awesome and blessed Thursday!
